Two in a bar

March 4th, 2003

The government published a bill in November that effectively prevents any live music in a public place that consists of more than two musicians. Hobnobbin Magazine reports that if pubs don’t get a license, they could face prosecution. It doesn’t apply to pubs either. Apparently, if more than two people play music in their own home then they too must pay up. This means that Shay and my new band that plays only tunes from cult kids TV shows will need a license when we get our drummer. Craziness! That is, unless we play in a church which is, apparently, exempt.

Tracy has unearthed a petition which may or may not make a difference. I have signed it. You should too.
